The company dissolved after the third season in 2007 and all production is now done under the purview of CBS Paramount Television.
On May 19, 2010, CBS renewed the show for a seventh season of 24 episodes, which premiered on Friday September 24, 2010.
A spin-off from CSI: Miami, the third edition to the CSI franchise follows a New York City forensics team/police officers headed by former tough Marine Major, Det. First Grade Mac Taylor, and his newest partner in crime, Det. Jo Danville, an experienced investigator from Washington, D.C., whose work is driven by her empathy for the victim. Against a backdrop of simmering ethnic and cultural tensions, Taylor probes cases similar to their Las Vegas and Miami counterparts, along with his team of Detectives, consisting of Det. First Grade Danny Messer, Det. Third Grade Lindsay Monroe, and Det. Third Grade Dr. Sheldon Hawkes. The CSIs work alongside Medical Examiner Sid Hammerback, lab rat Adam Ross, and hardcore homicide Det. First Grade Don Flack. Former team members include the late Det. Third Grade Aiden Burn and Mac's former second in command, Det. First Grade Stella Bonasera.
